I asked your mate to foresee your holiday, and got this more realistic prediction. [image: 1749740638725-0c0c0263-4126-411b-ba89-182a85a23cdb-image.png]

The concern about a potential Israeli strike and the prospect of retaliation by Iran led the United States on Wednesday to withdraw diplomats from Iraq and authorize the voluntary departure of U.S. military family members from the Middle East.

I had one for a while, in Brooklyn. Plumber. Cute too. Once she brought her kid with her after asking first.

I've been to Europe only 3 times but a big takeaway was how tourism-based some city economies were, with Rome being at the top of that memory. Not surprised to see a sea of red in that map. On the flip side, we did travel to the (heel of the Italian boot) Puglia region later that trip to visit a distant family friend and had a great time visiting places like Bari and even smaller places like Polignano a Mare* on the coast, and Ostuni (inland a bit). *Had a dessert that that I convinced myself at the time I would "bring to the states". It's called Granita, and essentially it's shaved italian ice (simple syrup, ice, flavoring) often served with a little warm cream on top. Almost like an icy-ish sorbet with a touch of cream. Compared to most desserts it's lightweight and not too bad for you, and was incredibly delicious and refreshing on a warm day. I still think one day it'll become known/trendy here!

Lots of people choose noble defeats over compromise. It never made sense to me.

Fanciful utopian ideas such as "the majority of cars not being on fire" have no place in serious political discourse.

Well, depends on what scriptures you read, the god(s) may also have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and godlike powers.

@Horace said in Mildly interesting: @jon-nyc said in Mildly interesting: 73% of all women from every class survived the sinking of the Titanic. Only 19% of men survived. Speaking of paleolithic emotions and medieval institutions. It's no wonder why young men might be looking around and wondering about these sorts of attitudes. Especially when we are harangued about being sexists and patriarchs. Swim, bitch, swim.
